Rent by Position
The plan couldn't be more simple. It works just like renting space in a brick-and-mortar mall, or like advertising in a publication. You pay a set annual amount for your location.
You will probably be surprised at how reasonable the rates are. We can do this because we have a lot of stores, and we don't have to pay for heating, air conditioning, and maintenance services for hundreds of thousands of square feet of retail space.
And even though there are a lot of stores, customers can quickly find the area of the mall in which they are interested. And since your store is located by the type of merchandise you offer, your store doesn't get lost like it would in a real mall like the Mall of America, and doesn't get lost in the "search engine" crowd.
Rates
The rates below are based on the traffic to each of the 53 areas of Really Big Mall. To reduce our overhead (and your costs!) even further, all mall positions are available on an annual basis only.
(If you haven't read "The Mall" page, please do so. It has important traffic information that you will want to consider when you are looking at positioning.)
You lock in your position at the current annual rate no matter how much our traffic increases. For example, if you lock in a position in the "gourmet foods" section and two months from now Gourmet magazine features us and traffic in that section increases tenfold immediately, rates for new stores may increase, but you still pay the same rate.
Furthermore, once you lock in a position, you have first choice for that same spot every year.
Affiliate Programs
Many of our locations are filled by stores that offer affiliate programs through popular affiliate networks like Commission Junction and LinkShare Corporation. They pay us a commission on sales generated from customers we've directed to them. If you have an affiliate program and would like to use this method to pay for space in the mall, please let us know.
Affiliate programs themselves do not guarantee a specific page or position, or even placement in the mall itself. We track revenues from each affiliate store and place stores according to revenues to maximize overall mall profitability. We may bump some affiliates to make room for stores paying a set annual fee, or to make room for another affiliate that may generate more revenue for the given location. It is our task to send customers to your store. Once they are in your store it is your task to make the sale. If sales (and our commissions) are not commensurate to the number of customers we send, we will move or remove the store. We are aware of many stores that either have very poor sell-through or do not accurately report affiliate sales. We will not provide free space based on promises alone.
Choose Your Locations
You may choose up to ten different locations for your store. Each must be related to products you sell.
For each category in which you'd like your store located, you can choose which page (or floor) on which you'd like to be located. If the position you prefer is not available, we will let you know what best positions are available and let you decide from there.
Rates, by Category
You may wish to visit the mall and note the areas in which you'd like to have your store located. All 53 categories are listed below by rate group, alphabetically in each group. "1st floor" means the first page viewed when a visitor enters this section of the mall, "2nd floor" is the second page, and so on.
If you choose a "2nd floor" location and there are still positions available on the "1st floor", you may be put on the 1st floor while only paying the 2nd floor rate, if the 1st floor currently has openings. Likewise with 3rd floor and beyond.
Locations in the "and beyond" floors are filled in the order in which the commitments are received.
